			<title>South-side condominium project to feature three stories, 145 units </title>
			<description>&lt;p&gt;On the south side of town, a new condominium project featuring 145 units in a single three-story building will break ground in March with completion expected by May 2007.&amp;nbsp; The Alameda, as the project is called, is on a 9-acre site off Vegas Verdes that is behind the former Yucca Drive-In and next to The Lofts.&amp;nbsp; It is within walking distance of the Plaza Santa Fe, site of an Albertsons, Target and other retail stores and restaurants.&amp;nbsp; The developer is Houston real-estate executive Michael Kaplan through his Kaplan Acquisitions.&amp;nbsp; The 28-year old business has holdings in Texas and Florida and has developed properties in several states.&amp;nbsp; Sales are being handled by Robin Zollinger, Artie Garcia and Warren Sacks of Barker Realty.&amp;nbsp; The Alameda &amp;ldquo;has already received all its approvals&amp;rdquo; David Barker said, adding that critical comments from residents of The Lofts &amp;ldquo;have been addressed.&amp;rdquo;&amp;nbsp; Barker said Kaplan was encouraged to proceed with the project because of what he perceived as the need for reasonably priced condos in Santa Fe.&amp;nbsp; The one-and-two bedroom units, ranging in size from 645 to 1,275 square feet, will be priced from the low $200,000s to low $300,000s.&amp;nbsp; Garages also will be available for sale.&amp;nbsp; The units feature 10-foot ceilings, kiva fireplaces, stainless steel appliances and more.&amp;nbsp; Among other amenities are a heated swimming pool and a community center with a wine-tasting room.&amp;nbsp; The Alameda also will feature wireless Internet hook-up.&amp;nbsp; The community is expected to be one for active adults and those who want a second home in Santa Fe.&amp;nbsp; Condominium fees will start at $140 per month.&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp; Sales agents are taking reservations for the project, and 20 investor units have already been sold, Zollinger said.&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp; &lt;/p&gt;
